Youth Flag Football FAQ

Breakthru Athletic League, Inc. (BA League) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit offering youth sports in western Palm Beach County. We are an officially licensed NFL FLAG football league with separate boys and girls divisions.

We serve families in Westlake, Loxahatchee, The Acreage, Royal Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and players from nearby communities are welcome.

NFL FLAG is the official flag football program of the NFL. It is a fast, non-contact game: instead of tackling, defenders pull a flag from the ball carrier's belt. BA League plays 5v5 for PeeWee through Varsity.

Players ages 4–17. Divisions are PeeWee (4–5), Freshman (6–7), Junior Varsity (8–10), Varsity (11–13) and High School (14–17).

Yes. BA League has separate boys and girls divisions, each with its own teams and its own Super Bowl tournament.

Absolutely. We focus on the development of all players regardless of experience or skill level, and preseason training starts with the basics.

Flag football is non-contact. Mouth guards are required on the field, metal cleats and jewelry are not allowed, and all coaches and volunteers 18 and older must clear a background check.

Spring 2027 registration opens November 14. The registration link will be posted on our Register page and social media.

Preseason skills and conditioning training with player evaluations, then two team practices and one game each week for 8 games, followed by a round-robin seeding tournament and a single-elimination Super Bowl.

BA League runs spring and fall seasons. The fall season runs September through November; spring dates are announced when registration opens.

A mouth guard, cleats with no exposed metal, and BA League shorts on game day. Official NFL FLAG belts and game balls are provided on game day.

Yes, when funds allow. Sponsorships help cover registration fees for low-income families. Email admin@breakthruathleticleague.com privately to ask.

Per the league bylaws, a player removed from a team without cause, or who quits the team, is not eligible for a refund.

Email baff@breakthruathleticleague.com. Coaching positions are for one season, so apply each season, and every volunteer 18 or older must complete a background check.
